Introduction

 

                  Chandigarh State Agricultural Marketing Board/Market Committee was established in the year 1969 under the Punjab Agricultural Produce Markets Act, 1961 with an objective to control and supervise the marketing network of sale,purchase,storage and processing of processed or non processed agricultural produce so notified as per (Annexure-A) from agricultural, horticulture, animal husbandry and forest produce. CSAMB is a corporate body as well as a local authority having perpetual succession and a common seal, with power to acquire, hold and sell property.

                  There is one Agricultural Produce Market Committees in the U.T.Chandigarh established under the Act. There is one principal market yard,  and seasonal purchase centre at 2nd grain market Sector-39, Chandigarh in  market committee. During the peak marketing season for the wheat in (Rabi) and Paddy (Kharif) temporary arrangements are usually made at 2nd grain market Sector-39, Chandigarh apart from the main principal market yard  which facilitate the farmers to sell their produce within UT, Chandigarh. Chandigarh State Agricultural Marketing Board  exercises his superintendence and control over the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC).
